jumps onto the pavement
a steady drip from the awning
everything glistens.
It's a summer rain
without a storm
no wind
no lightening
just a mild rumble
of thunder
announcing more to come.
It's a welcome rain
hot, humid days wilting leaves
cracked earth scorched by the sun's
relentless pursuit
eagerly accepting this gift
of perfect rain.
